Protect and regulate China's oyster resources

چکیده
China has at least 30 oyster species, all of which provide valuable ecosystem services. Oysters’ filter feeding habit reduces suspended particles and nutrients. One hectare reef can clean a volume water equivalent to nearly 15 Olympic swimming pools daily. excrement stimulate denitrification by removing nitrogenous organic matter, helping mitigate eutrophication. Natural reefs habitat for many enhancing biodiversity increasing fisheries. Oyster reduce impacts waves caused hurricanes typhoons, stabilizing shorelines. Despite their ecological importance, 85% globally have been degraded since the 19th century overharvesting, coastal development, pollution, disease. China’s reefs, especially those in Tianjin Jiangsu, seriously damaged during recent decades. Urgent action Chinese authorities is required protect these crucial species.

Using a virtual machine to protect sensitive Grid resources
Most Grid systems rely on their operating systems (OSs) to protect their sensitive files and networks. Unfortunately, modern OSs are very complex and it is difficult to completely avoid intrusions. Once intruders compromise the OS and gain system privilege, they can easily disable or bypass the OS security protections. This paper proposes a secure virtual Grid system, SVGrid, to protect sensiti...
متن کاملChinas provincial disparities and the determinants of provincial inequality
The paper explains the growth inequality nexus for Chinas provinces. The theoretical model of provincial development consists of two regions and studies the interactions of a mutual depending development process. Due to positive externalities, incoming trade and FDI induce imitation and hence productivity growth. The regional government can inuence the economy by changing international trans...
متن کاملPredator Cue and Prey Density Interactively Influence Indirect Effects on Basal Resources in Intertidal Oyster Reefs
Predators can influence prey abundance and traits by direct consumption, as well as by non-consumptive effects of visual, olfactory, or tactile cues. The strength of these non-consumptive effects (NCEs) can be influenced by a variety of factors, including predator foraging mode, temporal variation in predator cues, and the density of competing prey. Testing the relative importance of these fact...
متن کاملOvarian and sperm regulatory peptides regulate ovulation in the oyster Crassostrea gigas.
For more than six decades, several studies have shown that genital products to entering the mantle cavity via the incurrent siphon, initiate in oyster, strong and rhythmic contractions of the adductor muscle (AM). In order to characterize the regulatory peptides capable of triggering AM contractions, we focused on the identification of putative myotropic peptides from genital products. Two expe...
متن کاملSTAT4 and STAT6 regulate systemic inflammation and protect against lethal endotoxemia.
Members of the signal transducer and activator of transcription (STAT) family are transcription factors that mediate many of the effects of pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines. The progressive systemic inflammatory response induced by endotoxin is mediated by overzealous cytokine production. Here we identify STAT4 and STAT6 as critical regulators of the systemic inflammatory response to endoto...
